this was a decent documentary overall. the part with Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist seemed to be mostly an attempt at associating itself with a sort of hot button movement. the topic is fascinating and on a fundamental level the stories were pretty compelling. i thought some of the music was a significant drawback.  why would you choose to include that awful Electric 6 song “Gay Bar”? Just because those words are what the film is about doesn’t mean that the song has any place in the documentary. With a culture that has such close, important ties to various musical movement it seemed really distasteful to just throw in some random songs including the words “gay” “homo” and “fag.”
